Shelley is currently the project manager for the Texas ACE Quality Assurance Process (QAP) team. She specializes in the development and implementation of large-scale assessment systems and instruments; data management, analysis, and interpretation; and reporting solutions. In addition, Shelley’s 10+ years of experience as a STEM educator, teacher leader, and campus administrator informs how she creates and facilitates high-impact professional learning for staff at all levels and develops evidence-based resources and curricula to support desired student outcomes. Shelley has expertise in instructional design, problem-based learning, design thinking, and solution-based innovation.
Prior to joining Resources for Learning (RFL) in 2016, Shelley served as co-chair of the Science and Technology Department at Windward School in Los Angeles where she worked to bridge real-world applications and academic studies through collaboration with visual art, mathematics, and computer science faculty. Shelley led interdisciplinary teams in developing a variety of courses, including field research and environmental action, forensic science, and engineering innovation. Shelley also developed and facilitated several professional learning opportunities for regional educators in data-driven and student-centered approaches to STEM education.
Shelley earned both a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Texas at Austin. Her master’s research focused on prevention strategies targeted at nonmelanoma skin cancers. Additionally, Shelley is a graduate of the UTeach program, an innovative STEM teacher preparation program whose goal is to train highly qualified mathematics, science, and computer science educators. Shelley also holds a current Texas secondary composite science teaching credential.
